Legendary South African batsman Ab De Villiers holds the record of fastest ODI hundred on just 31 balls. Apart from it, Corey Anderson from New Zealand also held the title for some time when his hundred came on 36 balls. In the past, Pakistani star all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi held this record for 17 consecutive years, when he scored the fastest ODI hundred on 37 balls against Sri Lanka in 1996.

1.Ab De Villiers
Former South African Ab De Villiers owns the record for fastest ODI hundred. He claimed this record when he scored a hundred on 31 balls against West Indies. The match took place at Johannesburg stadium in 2015 during the West Indies tour of West Indies. Therefore, ABD takes the top spot on our list of fastest ODI hundreds.
Mr 360 went on to score a magnificent innings of 149 runs on just 44 deliveries during the match. Moreover, he also struck 16 sky kissing sixes and 9 classic boundaries. His strike rate during that innings reached a staggering 338.64. As a result, South Africa set a total of 439 for 2 in 50 overs.
West Indies crawled to 291 in 50 overs for the loss of seven wickets in the chase. Hence, South Africa won the match by 148 runs. This is regarded as one of the most memorable innings by Ab De Villiers by many cricket fans.
2. Corey Anderson
Present Day New Zealand Batsman Corey Anderson takes the 2nd spot on our list of fastest ODI hundreds. He scored the fastest ODI hundred on just 36 balls against West Indies in 2014. While setting this record, he broke the 17’s years old record of Shahid Afridi.
Corey Anderson smashed 14 mind blowing sixes and six fours during this inning and scored 131 on 47 balls. His strike rate was 278.72 at the end of his inning. The match took place at Queenstown on 1st January 2014 during West Indies tour of New Zealand. During this match, Jesse Ryder also scored his fastest ODI hundred on 46 balls.
Corey Anderson was titled Man of the Match Award for his blistering innings in the match. He is one of only three batsman to score a fastest ODI hundred under 40 balls. Therefore, he deserves a spot on our list of fastest ODI hundreds.
3. Shahid Afridi
Legendary Pakistani Cricketer Shahid Afridi grabs the third spot on our list of fastest hundreds in ODI format. He is the only batsman to score fastest ODI hundred for two times. Shahid Afridi scored his fastest hundred on just 37 balls against Sri Lanka in 1996. The match took place KCA Centenary Tournament at Nairobi.
Afridi went on to score a total of 102 runs on 40 balls in the match. His innings included 11 mighty sixes and 6 beautiful boundaries. Pakistan set a target of 371 in this match. However, Sri Lanka failed to chase this target and ended their innings at 289. As a result, Pakistan won the match by 82 runs.
This record stood for next 17 years until Corey Anderson broke this record by scoring hundred on 36 balls. This is said to be most memorable innings by Shahid Afridi in the ODI format. Therefore, he earns his name on our list.
4. Mark Boucher
Next we have former South African wicket keeper Mark Boucher on our list. He scored his speedy hundred on just 44 balls against Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe tour of South Africa 2006 series. His total scored reached to 147 on 59 balls and he scratched 10 sixes and 8 fours in the innings. The match was played at Potchefstroom on 20 September 2006.
With the help of this lightening innings from Mark Boucher, South Africa set a target of 418 runs. However, Zimbabwe ended their turn on 247 in the chase. As a result, Proteas won this match by a big margin on 171 runs. Mark Boucher’s strike rate remained at 216.17 during the innings. Therefore, he was awarded Man of the Match title.
5. Brian Lara
Legendary West Indian cricketer Brian Lara occupies the 5th place on our list of speedy ODI hundreds. He marked his fastest ODI hundred against Bangladesh on 45 balls in West Indies tour of Bangladesh 1999 series. The match took place at Dhaka on 9th October 1999 and it was 2nd ODI match between West Indies and Bangladesh.
Brian Lara opened West Indies innings and went on to score 117 runs on 62 balls. He smashed 4 sixes and 18 fours during this memorable innings. His strike rate reached 188.70 during the match. As a result, West Indies put a total of 315 runs in front of home side.
However, Bangladesh only managed to reach 205 in the chase. As a result, West Indies won the match by 109 runs. Brian Lara was awarded Man of the Match title for his destructive yet unforgettable innings.
6. Shahid Afridi
Former Pakistani Star player Shahid Afridi again occupies the 6th spot on our list of Fastest hundreds in ODI format. He is regarded as one of the greatest all-rounders in cricket. He scored his 2nd fastest ODI hundred against India on just 45 balls. The match took place at Kanpur on 15th April 2005 in Pakistan tour of India 2005 cricket series.
India had set up a target of 250 and Pakistan begun their chase. Shahid Afridi came as an opener and soon started to punish the Indian bowling attack. He totally scored 102 runs on 46 balls against the arch rival India in that match. His innings accounted for 9 mighty sixes and 10 classic fours. As a result, Pakistan won the match by 5 wickets in 42.1 overs.
Shahid Afridi received the Man of the Match awarded for his blistering innings with a strike rate of 221.73.
7. Jesse Ryder
Modern Day New Zealand Batsman Jesse Ryder enters his name in our list of fastest ODI centuries at the 7th place. He scored his fastest century on 46 balls against West Indies in West Indies tour of New Zealand 2014 cricket series. The Kiwi team set up a handsome total of 283 for 5 while batting first against Windies.
Jess Ryder scored a total of 104 runs on 51 balls as total. His lightening fast innings was powered by five magnificent sixes and 12 beautiful boundaries. His strike rate reached 203.92 in that match. In return, West Indies could not manage to chase the total and fell short 159 runs in the chase. As a result, New Zealand won the match by a good margin.
Corey Anderson was given the Man of the Match award for his hundred on 36 balls in the match.
8- Jos Buttler
Current English Wicket Keeper Jos Buttler also joins our list at the 8th position. He recorded his fastest ODI century 46 balls against Pakistan in England tour of United Arab Emirates 2015. The match was held on 20th November 2015. Buttler smashed a thundering innings of 116 runs on 52 balls in the match. His innings was helped by eight stunning sixes and 10 boundaries.
England set up a mighty total of 356 runs against Pakistan with that magnificent strike rate of 223.07 by Jos Buttler. In return, Pakistan crawled to 271 in the chase and England won the match by 84 runs. Jos Buttler was announced Man of the Match for his stunning hundred.
9- Sanath Jayasuria
Legendary Sri Lankan Batsman Sanath Jayasuria also puts together on our list of fastest ODI centuries. He recorded his fastest ODI century on 48 balls against Pakistan in the first ODI match of Singer Cup. The match was held on 2nd April 1996.
Sanath Jayasuria as a whole scored 134 runs with the help of 11 mind blowing sixes and 11 fours on 64 balls. As a result, Sri Lanka set up a huge sum of 349 while batting against Pakistan. In return, Pakistan could not keep up with the pressure and ended their exciting innings at 315.
As a result, Sri Lanka stood victorious in the match by 34 runs. Jayasuria was declared Man of the Match for his mind blowing performance during the match.
10- Kevin O’ Brian
Irish cricketer Kevin O’Brian makes the final spot on our list of fastest Centuries in ODI format. He set up his fastest ODI century on 50 balls against England in ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. The match was hosted at Bangalore Cricket Stadium, India.
The innings total of Kevin accounted 113 runs on 63 deliveries. His magnificent performances came after 6 great sixes and 13 splendid fours. His strike rat touched 179.36 on that day. As a result, Ireland managed to chase the 328 runs target from England.
Irish Team won the match by three wickets and Kevin was announced the Man of the Match for his glorious hundred.
