Asia Cup 2022 Shifts to UAE – Confirms BCCI Chief

Just In: The 15th edition of Asia Cup 2022 was planned to be hosted by Sri Lanka. However, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has denied hosting the tournament due to the tense political conditions in the country. The Asia Cup 2022 is now shifted to UAE.

According to the sources, Sri Lanka Cricket Board has informed Asian Cricket Council about their Final decision. Now, both parties have started negotiations with Emirates Cricket Board to re-schedule the upcoming Asia Cup 2022.

Emirates Cricket Board has agreed to host Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai. However, Emirates Board insists to the event earlier, due to which the starting dates of this tournament might be changed. Though, the Final Decision will be announced by ACC.

The sources also claim that Emirates Cricket Board put forth a proposal to start the event from 24th August 2022 to 10th September 2022, while according to the original schedule, Asia Cup has to be started on 27th August and ends on 11th September 2022.

Nevertheless, the Asia Cup 2022 Schedule will be finalized through mutual consultation of all parties. The current season of Asia Cup 2022 consists of six cricketing teams, including Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.

The sixth side will join them after finishing on top in the Asia Cup Qualifying Rounds. The teams appear in qualifying rounds are Hong Kong, UAE, Singapore, and Kuwait. Each team will play 3-games against other sides before qualifying for the main rounds.
