Australia Announce Squad for T20 World Cup
Just In: Australia has announced a 15-member squad for the forthcoming T20 World Cup. The defending champions are the first team to finalize their initial playing squad for the World Cup, scheduled to be started in Australia.
Going against all speculations, the Aussies selection committee has made one change to the squad that had won the last edition of the World Cup in Dubai. According to details, Team Australia opted for power-hitter Tim David instead of leg spinner Mitchell Swepson.
Furthermore, Tim David successfully drew the selector’s attention after displaying excellent cricket during the past editions of the Pakistan Super League, Big Bash League, and Indian Premier League, and is picked up as an additional batter in the Aussies World Cup Squad.
While talking to the media on the Squad Announcement, Team Australia Chairman of Selectors George Bailey said, “We have decided to keep the same squad that won the title last year, and players are happy to play at home”.
The experienced Aaron Finch will lead Australia during the mega event, where they compete against England, New Zealand, Afghanistan, and two other qualifier teams. The tournament will kick start on October 23, whereas the Final will be played on November 13.
