Russia did not get the approval of hosting the World Cup easily as they had to go through voting procedure which held on 2nd December, 2010 in Zurich. Russia won the rights to host World Cup by getting a win in voting procedure. Portugal & Spain came at 2nd position in result, while Belgium & Netherlands got third position.
