Lord’s Cricket Ground to Host World Test Championship Finals of 2023, 2025 – (Officially Confirmed)

Just In: The International Cricket Council has selected the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground for the hosting of the upcoming ICC World Test Championship Finals in 2023 and 2025. The venue’s decision was finalized during the ongoing ICC Annual Conference in Birmingham.

Lord’s Cricket Ground was also selected to host the Finals of the inaugural season of WTC back in 2021. However, the hosting was canceled due to Covid-19, and the final took place in Southampton, where Kiwis defeated India to become the Pioneer World Test Champions.

ICC has also announced the host countries for the upcoming ICC Cricket tournaments in the Women’s Category. According to official statement, India will host the 2025 World Cup, whereas ICC Women’s T20 Champions Trophy will be played in Sri Lanka in 2027.

The annual conference also approved Future Tour Programs (FTPs) for  women and men during the 2023-27 span. Various other Cricketing Matters also came to light during this meeting. Among other decisions, VVS Laxman and Daniel Vettori were selected as the Current Player Representatives.

The International Cricket governing body has also approved the process of electing the next chairperson of the International Cricket Council. The elections of New Chairman of ICC will take place in November 2022, and the working tenure of elected chair is 2-years.

The core committee also discussed the developments made by the Afghanistan Working Group during the last few months. The Afghanistan Working Group has been assigned the task to review the status of Cricket inside Afghanistan.
