Sri Lanka Team Squad For T20 World Cup 2022 – (Officially Confirmed)

ICC T20 World Cup is scheduled to start from 16th October in Australia. Sri Lanka are one of the 16th participants to play in the 8th season of T20 WC. They have been placed in Group A of the Round 1 stage with Ireland, Namibia and Netherlands.

They will have to finish among top two at the end of Round 1 stage to qualify for the Super 12 stage. Sri Lankan Cricket Board have announced the Sri Lanka team squad for T20 World Cup 2022. As per the announcement Dasun Shanaka will captain Sri Lankan team in T20 WC 2022.

At last the news is out for all those Sri Lankan cricket fans who were eagerly waiting for Sri Lanka team squad to be announced. Sri Lankan Cricket Board has announced Sri Lanka Team Squad for T20 World Cup 2022.

As per the declaration of Sri Lankan Cricket Board, Dasun Shanaka will captain Sri Lanka in T20 WC. He has a talented and experienced team squad to lead in the tournament. Sri Lanka have been one of the  five luckiest nations to win the T20 World Cup title.

They achieved this status under the captaincy of Mahela Jaywardene in 2014. Moreover, they also came runner up and qualified for the semi finals in other two seasons as well. However, since then Sri Lanka have been struggling to claim back their title.

The Sri Lankan team have been preparing for the upcoming mega tournament of T20 World Cup lately. They leveled up a three match T20 series against India at home by 1-1 stats. Who knows, if the rain could not have effected the 2nd T20 match in the series, Sri Lanka may have ended up winning the series.

Nevertheless, T20 World Cup 2022 is on the card in October and November 2022. Will Sri Lanka be able to win the title again for the 2nd Time, we will find out soon?

In  2012, Sri Lanka again emerged as the runner up after losing the title against West Indies in the final. But, they became the World T20 Champions for the very first time in T20 World Cup 2014. In the following season, they lost the title to West Indies and finished in the Round 2 stage of T20 World Cup 2016.
