Tamim becomes the Only Bangladeshi Batsman to reach 8000-runs

Just In: Tamim Iqbal has become the First Bangladeshi Batsman to score 8000-runs in One Day International Cricket Format. Overall, he is the Ninth Opener to achieve this landmark. Iqbal achieved this milestone in the 1st ODI against Zimbabwe.

The left-handed batsman added this feather to his notable career during the 24th Over by hitting a boundary to Sikandar Raza. Tamim Iqbal displays a wonderful record both as a Captain and Batter as he also holds the highest number of centuries for Bangladesh – 14.

Tamim Iqbal is the 33rd player in ODI history to score more than 8,000 runs, meanwhile only the 9th opener in cricketing history to reach this landmark. Shakib ul Hasan with 6755-runs is distant at 2nd position for the Bangladesh side.

The 33-years old ODI skipper appeared in his 227th ODI innings with 7943 runs in sum against Zimbabwe on Friday. He also scored his 54th ODI half-century during the process to breach the milestone of Most ODI runs for Bangladesh in ODI Format.

Tamim Iqbal is the most-experienced member of the Bangladesh Cricket Team. His performance always remained on higher notes, even against tough cricketing sides. Iqbal has scored his last 1000 ODI runs in just 23 innings.

Starting his International Career in 2007, Tamim Iqbal is the most successful batter and skipper across all formats. Apart from ODI records, he is the 2nd highest runs scorer for Bangladesh in Test, just behind the experienced Mushfiqur Rahim.
