The Pakistan cricket team captain Sarfraz Ahmed was lashed out on the internet for saying racial comments against Andile Phehlukwayo. The incident took place in the second ODI match at Kingsmead, Durban when after repeated survivals, somehow Phehlukwayo could not get out. In the 36th over, Sarfraz said in Urdu language:
“Abay Kalay! Teri Amman Kahan Bethi Hain Aj? Kia Parhwa Kr Aya Hay Tu Aj?”
Shortly after that happened, the commentator asked Ramiz Raja about what Sarfraz was Saying? Ramiz realizing the intensity of the matter replied with ” This is a long sentence” to null any trouble that may haunt Sarfraz. However, Some Pakistani Journalists and Indians reported the incident to the ICC posting video of the incident.
Some cricket fans starting creating a hype about Sarfraz being a racist. Later on, Sarfraz apologized to his fans and said:
I wish to extend my sincere apologies to any person who may have taken offence from my expression of frustration which was unfortunately caught by the stump mic during yesterday’s game against SA. My words were not directed towards anyone in particular and I certainly had no intention of upsetting anyone. I did not even mean for my words to be heard, understood or communicated to the opposing team or the cricket fans. I have in the past and will continue in future to appreciate the camaraderie of my fellow cricketers from across the globe and will always respect and honour them on and off the field.
To me, this all fuss was nothing more than a hype created by Indians just to Target Sarfraz for being the captain of Pakistan Cricket Team. If and only if, Sarfraz was being Racist, why dnt he said these comments while addressing directly to Phehlukwayo. If he meant he might have said those words in English for Phehlukwayo to understand that Sarfraz is calling him a Balackie.
If we translate these Urdu Racial comments from sarfraz in English, the literal Translation in English Language is
Hey Black Fella! Where is your mother sitting today? What have you asked your Mother to Pray for You?
In subcontinent India, Pakistan and Bangladesh when a Son is going for his big day, Mothers sit at their praying beds weather it be Musallah or Rudraksha and pray for their son’s success. Also, we subcontinent people do not share the fair skin color with the white people. Instead we have a brown one. Racism may be common in the West World but in subcontinent it is not. We take it as a funny compliment which Sarfraz meant when he said Phehlukwayo ” A Balackie”.
The ICC has took the notice and Sarfraz may face three to five match ban in this prospectus. However, Sarfraz should restrain himself for saying Sluggish comments that may take him to hot waters another time. As he is often found saying rubbish comments to the fellow team mates.
A similar incident happened in 2008, When Indian Cricketer Harbajhan Singh called Andrew Symonds ” A Monkey”. However, when the Authorities took action and Harbajhan was to be banned, Indian Cricket team threatened to leave the match. But hey! its Okey, No body Gives a damn about Sarfraz being a Pakistani.
